67 coronet

hello there. i have a 1967 coronet with 383 and 727. it has no power steering and manual drum brakes. the motor isnt number matching. its going to take some work to get it the way i want it and as this is my first major build any advice along the way would be greatly appreciated.

I too have a '67 Coronet R/T project to do - manual steering and brakes,
Not number matching 440 / 727.

This is what I'm planning for it - just to give you some ideas.
Install Wilwood disc brakes on front end
Install super stock springs on rear end
It has 14" magnum wheels now - replace with 15" Weld wheels,
I bought a tool from Jegs to size wheels and tires to get the right fit
Like to replace the open 3.23 gear 8-3/4 diff with a sure grip of 3.73
Rebuild motor with Edelbrock Top-End kit and Keith Black pistons -
Cut deck height down and should have around 10:1 compression
B&M overhaul on trans with shifter
Replace bucket seats and remove stock console
Finally, paint the car and fix dash, heater, radio
Install halogen headlights and new wiring

That is the main plan for now - should be about 500 HP and streetable

There is a modification that you can do to the power steering pump, shim the pressure spring for better feel if you want to keep it...

Welcome to both Coronet men.

My only advice is take disassembly pictures and tag and bag EVERYTHING.

Sounds like a perfect build list Illinois.

if i remember right the reg cars had a steering pump was 800-900 psi, at the most. and imperial pump was 1000-1100 psi. but some imperial stuff not may be like the other cars.

Just remember any manual steering box you may find is worn out...
