'68 Satellite body trim

can anyone tell me how to remove the body edge trim that goes from the front of the car to the rear along the tops of the fenders and doors? I would like to remove all the trim before painting the car.

Thanks,
DC

VERY gently lol. Actually if I remember right, it's a combination of plastic snap clips and metal bolt on clips. Look on the inside of the fenders, doors and quarters under the trim. If you see what looks like about a 3/8ths nut, that should be the metal clips. Remove them, then very easily and with a wide flat tool, like a stiff putty knife about an inch wide, slip it under the trim and easily rock it side to side to try and pop one end loose. Keep light up tension on the trim, and slide the putty knife toward the next attaching point, and repeat the process till you have it removed. You dont want to twist the trim, so be careful. Replacing it is pretty well straight forward, put it in place, slap it with the heel of your hand or tap it with a rubber hammer, then replace the nuts holding it. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info. I am thinking of filling the holes and leaving it off. I think the cars look better, cleaner, without it. maybe someone that has done this will chime in.

Thanks,
DC
