Is the 440 complete, ready to run, in good shape, and with INTAKE and DISTRIBUTOR?
Your 383 exhaust will fit, but if the 383 is a typical low/ med performance 383 2bbl, it won't have very good manifolds Only other issue I can think of is ENGINE BALANCE. Some 440s are external balance, depending on year, crank, etc, and will require either a weighted torque converter or an aftermarket flex plate with the proper "weighting" You say "you don't know which transmission." I believe all B/ RB engines ALL had 727 transmissions. Other than that, it should pretty much be a bolt in. ================================================== ================================================== == For info only: But let's say you DID have a small block, and could have either. Simple. You just get down on the passenger side and look at the pass. side pan rail. The 727 has a big bulge on the pan side rail, and the 904 is "straight." Below is an overhead view of 904/ 727 gaskets, right side of page corresponds to passenger side of car. The 727 (with the bulge) is at top http://image.carcraft.com/f/9142941/..._trans05_z.jpg |
It's basically a long block with an intake. the guy said it has a purple shaft cam and 906 heads? not sure what that means, recently converted to mopar. but i do have a $1000 dollar budget so would that be enough for what i need?
