73 b-body fenders

im trying to take the fenders of my sattalite and i swear i have all the bolts undone but either fender does not want to move. is there more to takeing these off then just taking the bolts out?
so far ive taken the bumper off
front valance
and that top thing and undid all the bolts under the hood and the support beam in the back of the wheel well

did you remove the wheel well? im not sure if that is causing your problem, but its worth a shot

b body

how much wiggle is there?
any play? or is it still real tight. follow the point of stress when you pull on it
if that makes sense.

one thing you might have missed.
i know on my 71' 300.
theres a bolt than you have to get to, underneath the fender and you can only get to it by opening the door, and going through the top, it was tricky.
also, if you didnt take the actualt wheel well off, that could be the problem

I just took mine off..Theres the bolts under the hood that go along the fender. Then there are two that come in on the inside of the fender into the radiator support. There are two that attach to your rocker panel. There is a brace that goes from your wheel well lip to the car. Then there is kind of a secret one that you have to take the splash shield off and its like bolted down to a bracket. You might also try lifting up on the inside of the fender where it is bolted under the hood because the fender has a bend on it that catches..hope this helps.

haha i had this problem with mine. my stupid mistake was the bolt underneath the fender all the way at the top where the antenna is. thier is a bracket behind the antenna that bolts the fender to the inner fender lip. it is about three inches away from the door on the topside of the fender. it was hard getting to with the wheel on it. just a suggestion

finally took the time and got them all off there was this plastic shield

and is this supposed to be straight or evenly bent?

Ummm, no. However, the drivers side of it looks correct. It almost looks like the passenger side is the result of a careless tow-job. That lower portion of sheet-metal [under the boxed area] doesnt actually support anything, but is more of a reinforcement and mini skid-plate for protection of the bottom of the radiator. So the answer is, It is supposed to be straight, but it is pulled out on the passenger side

I have a 73-74 Road Runner Hood FOR SALE. I'm in Southern California

timmie124 Jan 8, 2011 07:44 PM

what type of hood is it mercury don?

actually i don think it was pulled out from being towed because undneeth is smashed upwards and the engines oil pan was dented the same way as well as the pully...i think the last owner jumped the car and landed on the rock

I'm not a body man, so I dont know the best ways to use heat. But I would be more than happy to crawl under and give you some good measurements so you know where it should be. Do you weld? I might be scoring a shell in a local yard that has that. Or I might be able to get the guys at the yard to part with it for cheap since its not a high demand piece.
