Electrical issue?

I just got the 440 running that I put in my 74 roadrunner. When I let the clutch out the motor just shuts off, I thought at first it was the tranny but it acts like u just turn off the ignition. Also my distributor wabbles and it is all the way in the cam is new, could it be that the drive shaft is bent its the old one that was in the motor when I got it.

Any help would help

I'm on my second distributor already what I meant was the same is the shaft with the gear on it that goes into the oil pump and drives the distributor. It was really hard to get out of the motor when I took it apart.

so you installed a new dizzy and it still wobbles, so you replaced the gear drive too and it still wobbles? they can be a lil difficult to get out somtimes. does the teeth on the cam look ok? how is your oil pressure? that gear does 2 things spins the dizzy and turns the oil pump,

I haven't replaced the oil pump drive yet but my oil pressure is really good, camshaft is brand new just got done building the motor. But ya it still wabbles after the new distributor.

i assumed you pulled the dizzy out and spun it by hand to check the wobble, i cant remember if the gear is offset, meaning if the drive gear slot is offset. if it is that would cause the dizzy to wobble, if so then pull it out and turn it 180

Yes I did check the distributor but I will check that gear and turn it if I have to. Do u know why my car would be shutting off when I let the clutch out. I'm gonna go thru the Tranny again (4th time) and make sure nothing is wrong there. It just doesn't make any sense to me.

Can the motor run with it in neutral and clutch out?

Can you start it in gear? I wonder if your safety switch has gone bad..

I think I figured it out I don't have any shift linkage yet and I'm pretty sure the tranny is stuck in 1st and reverse, that's what I'm at rite now anyways, the safety switch works I checked that. Its just finding time to pull the tranny apart now.
