funny noise (not HA-HA)
When I'm driving the ol' Belvedere I've noticed a whistleing noise or a real high pitched rattle that is engine speed------- put it in neutral while driving, let it idle and the noise goes away. The noise corresponds with engine speed. I don't hear it if run it up standing next to the car with the hood up. The car runs and drives good, recently got the air cond. working--COOL!!! I did a lifter adjustment a couple of weeks ago and they needed it. I've heard vacuum leaks whistle kinda like this but they are real noticible when the hood is up and hush up as you run the engine up. Any suggestions, solutions, good ideas will be appreciated...

I'll check the belts, when I start it after it sits for a week or so the ammeter shows a big charge and cuts back after awhile. If I slap the gas while it's charging big it will squeal the belt. After the charging rate cuts back it doesn't though. I was hoping somebody would say maybe "all those old 318's whistle" or somethig like that. I'm not a MOPAR guy from way back...... thanks again

don't think I'm smart enough to record and post an audio file.... wife & daughter probably are. I took the car to a reunion acouple of weeks ago, about a 350mi round trip. It whistled the whole way------- apparently it's not hurting itself too bad, noise is the same. I've advanced the timing trying to make it "ping" figuring I'd back it off a little till it stops but couldn't hear it ping. Don't hear well anymore but I CAN hear that WHISTLE. I've been driving it more since the A/C is working so I'll see if it gets worse.................. thanks again
