headlight issue
hey guys i have a 70 coronet and here is my issue can anyone please tell me why my headlights get very dim when i push my breaks or come to a complete stop and my blinkers wont even blink

bad alternater or regulater, not charging prperly when theres a load, maybe a short
|
i had that problem with my charger it was my regulator. check your voltage with a volt meter or with the engine running, you can take a screwdriver and touch the back of the altenator shaft. if its magnetic your charging, if not have your altenator tested and go from there.
good luck! |
had the same problem with my dart changed my voltage regulator and been fine ever since

Headlights
Read the link article about relays, you may have a regulator or alternator problem but this is for brighter lights.

If your charging ok while driving down the road and it shows a discharge stopped at idle well, thats characteristic of the classic mopar. You could try bumping up the idle a bit or go with a smaller pulley on the alternater. Probably the only other choice would be a higher output alternater.
