Usually power shafts are shorter about 42 inches, manuals are longer about 45 inches. An adapter is available to change from power, extending the shaft, to the shorter manual box, so your question is a little confusing to me.

steering shaft length

the reason i say mine seems a little long is the collaspable tube that joins each end end of the shaft protrudes about two inches out of the shift tube. i dont remember any of my cars doing that. and while i am on the subject.the index notch that is on the lower end of the coupler what does it line up with? the 70 manual is not clear.
