Need a pic of the 67 GTX dual snorkel air cleaner.
I am so frickin confused, I really need a pic of a known correct 67 GTX dual snorkel air cleaner. I have looked at web images until my teeth hurt and I am still not sure what is correct.
This is an ebay listing that says it is a 67 GTX air cleaner:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1967-...item1c0d0e0005
But this website says this air cleaner is for a 69 car:
http://www.nicksgarage.com/aircleaner/69_440_tnt_04.jpg
and this same website says this is a 67 GTX air cleaner:
http://www.nicksgarage.com/aircleaner/67_440ds_02.jpg
Help stop the madness!

Our 67 four speed GTX came with the unscilenced air cleaner. As I understand, four speeds came with dual point distributor, clutch fan, Dana 60 and the unscilenced, non snorkel air cleaner. It looks just like the dual snorkel one but the bottom base plate is smaller in diameter and the air comes in between the outer shell and the carb base plate. I am still trying to locate one, the were also used on A body 383 cars in 67 and 68. Nicks Garage has pictures of all the Mopar air cleaners.

I saw one of those for sale on San Francisco/Bay Area Craigslist. I'll see if I can find the ad.
Update: The ad is not there but, it looked like a dual snorkel air cleaner - full size..... without the snorkels. I'll keep my eye out as it may come back up.

The dual point distributor might have been an option.
Correct on the Dana 60.

CAC air cleaner
67 gtx 440 a/cleaners are a tough one. I have been watching these for years and it seems there MAY?? be a couple or more different ones. For instance the one shown here comes in two versions. One with the vent tube coming off of the snorkel and the other without a vent tube. I don't know for sure but I suspect that the one shown here is one for a CAP (calif clean air package) car and the other one I mention is for a non CAP car. If anyone has more and better info I would be very interested in it. I am of the understanding that all 67 440 GTX air cleaners had 13 indentations around the top of the lid verses 11 indentations you often see on air cleaners advertised as correct GTX cleaners. The other thing one needs to look for is the diameter of the carb hole on the bottom piece. It should measure 4-1/4 inches. Other a/c that look similar to the correct one have a larger opening.

Another thing to be careful about is the snorkels thickness. I have found two different sizes, one being a decent amount taller than the other.

Dual point standard on Hemi and 440 4 speed. Looking for documentation on the un sclienced air cleaner and other stuff that was on 4 speed cars. I also found you could not get AC on a 440 4 speed.

November 1966 Car and Driver article on GTX. Four speed cars had the special equipment I listed in an earlier post. I am looking for an unsilenced air cleaner. I have a dual snorkel on the car now, I also still have the dual point distributor but in the late '70s I installed a Chrysler electronic ignition.

Here is a picture from a show around '76 and if you look close you can see the air cleaner without snorkels.
