Parking Brake Light comes on while driving.

Hi,

I commute 72 miles a day in my 1972 charger (318), lately, while driving home from work, my parking brake light comes on. Whats strange is, it only happens when I'm coming home, never when I'm driving to work.

Is it because I'm on the brakes more on the drive home? Any fixes?

Thanks,
Jason

wow, strange one. I assume you are talking about a light in the dash that tells you if your parkig brake is engaged? I hope it is not a low brake warning light.

that light has two functions. the first is the parking break and the second is to alert you if the pressure lines in the the front or rear brakes has had a failure. check the brake fluid and the mechanical switch on the parking break mechanism.

Hi theomahamoparguy,
Yeah, the Parking Brake indicator light comes on. Weird huh?
I checked my brake fluid and it looked fine.

was it low at all?
did you top it off and see if it happened again?

Hi 67,

Topped it off today and went for a drive. Yep, after a while the light came on. I'm guess I'm going to have to take it in to have the brakes checked.

Thanks for the responce though,
Jason

Weird

Will it go back out on its own? Just a thought I had a 74 Dodge do that ,but it was a spring that was getting weak on the parking brake lever. I added a diffrent spring and never had it happen again.
