Question on buying 72 charger rallye
Hey Mopar nuts! I'm a newbie to the forum. I'm also new to Mopars. I have the opportunity to buy a 72 Charger 440 Rallye that was 90% restored. It had a fire under the hood while being driven. It is rust-free unless a lot of water leaked and puddled inside trunk or floors in the last year. Wiring harness is toast I'm sure. Headliner is ruined too. Dash is melted and would need to be rebuilt entirely. Not sure how the rest of the interior is. Windshield and rubber around it is also bad. It is a 440. Not sure if it is a #'s car. Original rear end and trans. So, my question is what I should look for to try to match #'s and code the car? What is this car worth? What else should I look for?
My plan will be to find a plain and basic charger donor car and rebuild this one since the body is so clean except for the hood and inner fenders. I tried to google some stuff and found myself here. Any help is much appreciated.

first off get the vin # and go to Mopar Codes - MyMopar.com - Mopar Part Numbers or Mopar VIN Decoder Mopar Casting Numbers - MyMopar.com - Mopar Part Numners these should answer all your # needs and i would try and get most of your parts from ebay as i have always had great luck finding any part i need and also you can check to see about what the price of the charger you might be spending for it ---- any other questions just ask as there are a great many friends in here that will be able to answer all your needs --- good luck and lets see some pic's if and when you get her

I have not personally used this site for parts but the prices seem pretty reasonable depending on what parts you need. I found a lot of parts off Ebay but if you know someone around you that is a Mopar fan start talking with them and you might find that there are usually groups of fellow Mopar nuts. I have gotten most of my parts this way and its a good way to get advice and help when you need it. As for whether you should get the Charger or not, If I had the funds then yes I would definitely take the deal. The car's worth is going to go up every year plus the sentinemtal value is something you cant replace.
