Slant six ignition timing
Hi there,
I have a question about setting the ignition timing on a slant six: Whenever i hook up a timing light and check out the indicator on the flywheel, the engine will only run nicely when the mark on the flywheel is way below the indicating thing. If i set the ignition exactly on the indication, the engine dies immediately. Does anyone know what's going on? regards. Willem |
Do you have the vacuum discounted from the distributer?
It should be. :) |
Well, my distributor doesnt have a vacuum advance. :)
Would that be the cause? |
In this case.... Try setting it with a vacuum gauge and see if that works better.
|
Because something is off , distributer or the damper.

Correct Bob?

I just love the slant 6, anyway I would check the timing chain. Turn the crankshaft back and forth while watching the rotor in the dizzy to check for too much play. This is common on the 6 with the plastic teeth on the cam.
good luck, john |
