small block 727 vs. big block 727
Hi Guys, I have a 67 belvedere that has a 318 and a 727 torqueflight trans. Will this trans. bolt up to a 383. I am sure it is a 727 because it has the tale-tale buldge on the fluid pan rail next to the dipstick.

Doc, I have a 383 without a tranny that was given to me; but I may have an opportunity to buy a 440 for little of nothing. It has a push button tranny on it. Can it be used with a hurst style shifter or does it even matter. Also, will a 727 for a B engine work on an RB?

The reason I ask is ... that I have a trans that is done (a HP rebuild - manual shift valve body) that I will not be using and could trade for some parts. I am in MI .. but will be coming down to FL in the late summer/early fall ...and will first be going to Tn, then to TX, then to LA - to then FL. I could drop off and swap these parts along the way.
No hurry though.

Hey Doc, I'm not to interested in a standard shift tranny just for the simple fact that my car is an automatic. This is my first serious fram-off restoration and I don't really know how hard it would be to convert from Automatic to standard shift. The person I bought the car from was trying to make it into a GTX clone. He put in a junky looking center console that is out of a GTX and the shifter was moved from the column to the floor. I would like to remove the console and put a split bench seat in it but leave the shifter in the floor; something like a hurst quarter stick? What do you think? would I be better off with a standard shift and how tough would it be to convert?

pip .. this trans is a 727 trans .. what makes it a manual-shift is the special valve body.
Mf ... a trade could be possible. I am looking for parts for a Bud who wants to build a stroker 360. You will have to go into more detail on that trans-problem. It does not sound like a broken band.

i have everything for a 360 i have the block very good shape has not been bored or machined at all i have a performer rpm edelbrock intake almost a year old i have a 508 lift cam from mopar performance also have a double roller timing chain from comp cams, and also have the heads for the 360 i beleive they are j heads they do have the small intake valves, also have the pistons and rods, i had all this stuff on the 360 when it was in my truck and i think the cam was too much for the stock bottom end or the guy sold me a junk motor to begin with because needless to say it started knocking oh and i also have a milodon rear sump off road oil pan and pickup just let me know, and if you not interested in any of these parts let me know how much you want for the tranny
