Some questions about 6-Pack and Coyote air cleaners....
I've been having a hard time finding a Dominator base air cleaner that will fit under the lift off hood on my 69 RR
My plan was to pull the 1" ported spacer to gain some clearance and just drill a port on the Team G intake, but now that I think about it, I would still end up with an off the shelf round air cleaner, which pretty much looks like *** on a 440
So now I'm thinking about having my local laser shop cut me a custom base and top plate so I can position a large filter where I want it under the scoop
Thing is, I need an oval air filter to mess around with to get the measurements right
A few questions:
1) Is the 6-pack air filter and Coyote Duster air filter the same size?
2) If not, what are the measurements of each? (internal and external L/W/H)
3) Part#'s for each? (cheaper the better)

The oval filters are expensive as heck. There is no "cheap." There was some application for a Air Grabber/ Duster that used a round filter, I used to have one. Don't remember what it was out of
I have really paid no attention, but 300 bucks was bandied about on some forum for a Fram sixpack element.
Since you are considering a custom base, I'd investigate using a big round filter

$300 bones for the filter alone??
That's insane!!
I'm actually looking to mount a large oval sideways under the scoop kinda like this:
Thing is, I need a filter to play with in order to make a proper template.
K&N has a custom chart that lets you your own style and measurements, but I was hoping to pickup sumthin on the cheap to work with.

OK, I went with the K&N replacement filter for $50 bucks
Not cheap, but not ridiculously overpriced like the Fram filters
Left it with my Laser guy along with wooden template this morning, so I should have something soon

Mocked up a little template for the air cleaner after picking up a K&N 6-Pack filter (I wanted a Fram, but it was surprisingly waaaaay more expensive)
Then headed over to the laser shop where they made some cardboard templates and test fitted before cutting the plates out of aluminum

Because of the high rise of the Team G intake along with the carb spacer, the baseplate had to be moved forward on the carb to prevent touching the rear curve of the scoop, but took advantage of how wide the scoop is by turning the filter sideways (cross ram style)
Fits great with room to spare
Top plate gets painted orange tomorrow, leaving a nice canvas for some kooky RR/Coyote theme
