Howdy, new to the forum. I'm looking for recommendations on restoration shops in the St. Louis area who are familiar with late 60's Mopar.

The short version of my story is that a few years back, my father gave me the `68 Charger R/T he bought new, and I had been putting off bringing it up here until I found a house with a large enough garage. I have not found such a place yet, and sadly he passed on last month, so I need to do something with it relatively quickly.

I had originally intended to find a house with suitable shop space, restore it myself (I grew up with a wrench in my hand), and give it back to him, but it seems fate had other plans. I am looking for someone familiar with B-bodies of the era, honest, reliable, affordable, and within reasonable distance from St. Louis (not asking for much eh?).

It would be great if this person or shop would be OK with me coming by a couple days a week to do some of the work myself. Not necessarily to save money, but because I did some of my first car/mechanic work on that car when I was younger, and it just feels like the right thing for me to do. I did my second brake job ever on her at the age of 14 or so (had to practice on moms `73 Celica first), and have gone on to run the course of air cooled VWs, various British Leyland metal, water cooled VWs, Corvair, several makes of motorcycle, open tub Jeeps, Audi, old BMW, and even some Japanese rides in between. I've owned ~24 cars and half a dozen motorcycles since I got my license 18 years ago, and most of them were bought needing work before I could use them.

Anyway, sorry for the rant, and any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome. Sorry you did not get to fix it and give it back to your dad. I am sure he would want you to fix it and drive it alot. Beautiful car!!!

Thanks. I hope I can get her done right, I grew up in awe of this car. When I was very young, my parents used to have to take me for rides in it just to get me to go to sleep at night. There's just something about the hypnotizing grumble of that 440 that soothes the senses.
