What size exhaust 318 67' Belvedere

Hi Everyone. The Belvedere is running nice now and I am looking to redo the exhaust but I don't think I'm going to run the duals with xpipe. I'm looking to save some cost and just leave the single exit exhaust from stock manifolds. I need to know what size tubing you guys reccomend? I was thinking 2.5" would work with a magnaflow muffler? I am going to take it to a local exhaust shop. Should I leave the stock Y pipe or have them bend up a new one that flows a little better? Car has stock 318 with intake and 600cfm carb and that's pretty much it for performance. Not looking for anything crazy. Just would like a nice cruiser that sounds great. Open to everyone's opinions?

I think your on the right track with your idea. Bigger Y pipe would be a good idea but, check the size of the exit of the manifold [where the Y mounts up to]. It may be the cork in the hole system. (I am not sure of the size cause I cant remember even though I used to have one) It might be possible to open it up some {think die grinder}. I think the single 2 1/2 would be just fine with a high flow muffler.

I'd ask the shop what they think? My Belvedere has a stock '73 318 and my local exhaust shop ran 2" duals from the manifolds to the bumper with his glasspacks for $200.00. I've seen some single exhaust set ups cost as much or more than duals. Just my 2 cents
