65 fury 24k wont go forward? in D or 1 or 2 but reverse is fine
 

I just picked up a 65 fury II 383 commando 2bl with 24k original miles, hadnt been tabbed scince 74, been in a dark garage so is in mint condition.

Got the car running and drives in reverse, but no forward, I had driven it like 6 locks with it badly slipping/not grabbing or hooking up, but it hooks up fine in reverse, so not torque converter.

just changed the fluid and filter including draining the torque converter and still no change.

before I yard this thing out, should I have it flushed, or just puull her out and have her rebuilt, it doesnt go in 1st or 2nd either.

adjusted the forward band and it was right where it needed to be.

That is an unusual problem. Ultimately, it sounds like it may have to be rebuilt. That may be the best way to look at every piece of the transmission to find out what exactly the culprit is. Rebuilding a transmission yourself isn't overly hard, but does require plenty of time and patience. I do not know the price of sending one in. Perhaps in the long run, you will feel better to rebuild it anyway, knowing that when you finish, it will be in excellent shape, and shouldn't be an issue for you for many years to come. The 383 probably has the 727 transmission, is that the case?
