‘69 2bbl 383 power adders?
Got a 68 newport custom with stock 2bbl 383 runs fine but want some more spunk. Wonderin what i could get from a 4bbl intake and carb swap along with a cam. Also would like to know best cam selection for stock heads and springs. Accoding to casting number on heads they are 906 heads and have 2.08/1.74 valves #2843906 |
Edelbrock open plentium manifold
Holley 750 Double Pumper NOS small cam Whatever to 6000 rpm Upgrade the fuel system as per the instuctions NOS 150-250 shot Plate Unit... Have fun, Save your money and start buying parts for a upgraded build..... Just my 2 cents |
How long would that last on a 100 shot even?

OK... I'll Stop.... Before someone thinks that I'm really serious... I don't think I would do it ether.
Not much to gain with the low compression of those engines. But if your looking to just upgrade some.... I would say..... Dual plan 4 barrel intake Holley 650 or 750 vacuum sec. Upgrade the fuel system Upgrade the ignition Cam kit to your liking set of flowmasters 2-1/2" And hit the road again...… Just don't race those GSXR's.....:naughty: Keep us posted.... Nice looking car in the avatar.. :) |
Yeah thats the plan, im trying really hard to hold my self back from getting the cam and headers because i need to completly redo fuel and brake systems as the car sat for some time, in a dry shed tho.

Well... Get it to the point where you can drive it and enjoy it a little... Do the small stuff... And then graduate to the larger projects..... Kind of have to approach it like its a stored older CBX750 Or KZ1000 or Knuckle head...Hehehehehe
I fully understand the one thing you said.... It has to STOP and STEER for sure !!!!! :) |
Ahah yeah the fuel and brKes are priority right now. Can have a badd ass engine but wtf is it without fuel or brakes!! I do wanna mention i have restored a 85 k30 dually crewcab frame off, not. Ragging just sayin im not a total newb. And i found out about myself during that build is that if i really care about something, i like to make it soo cleannn , not just shiny but tidy/hiden and detaild, id love to post pics but i feel thats frowned upon on a mopar site |
You can post a picture of your other project but I'd like to see more of your mopar also.

Should be attached |

Very nice truck, I like your attitude for the car, keep it running while improving it. With the right combination like Bob has suggested you should achieve 350 hp easy and 400 with bigger cam but with a loss in smooth driveability. When I was your age I had land yachts which we're great for road trips with the guys.
We're in Dorchester near London and are avide snowmobilers if we every get snow. |
Thank you! Those are some nice numbers to hear ahah , and ya no kidding, we are in canada right?? Cuz it doesnt look like it right now QUOTE=Coronet 500;147217]Very nice truck, I like your attitude for the car, keep it running while improving it. Nice 85... I had a 1985 K30 Long bed pick up... 454, T.H. 400, TBI, Cali Emission for smoging… My Wife Drove it most of the time.... Looks like you did a nice conversion / Upgrade on that... :) Keep us posted on Your other projects... :) |
How do you think it would handle some boost? If i built a turbo setup and ran no more than say 5-7 lbs? Would my cam be way to small ? Rods hold up? Because thn i could cruise like a normal civilized person, then let er eat in the strip when i wanna . |
The fail point is the old cast pistons for any power adder, better piston and open ring gaps.
|
I Agree... Also a little better cam and some springs... As long as your not going to nuts with the boost... I could see an improvement.... :)
You could step up to this type....lol :) Boys from Finland Rock it !!! |
I've seen that before but I had to watch it again. 👍
|
Rite !!!! Them boys from Finland get it done.... The old Combo was a good runner... They raced it a bunch at Santa Pod Raceway... :)
|
AHaha ya. Them guys are nuts |
