Air Cleaner Question

I recently purchased a 1968 Plymouth Sport Fury. It is equipped with a 383 cu. in. engine. It was upgraded from a 2bbl version to a 4bbl carb (Edelbrock). I would like to go back to the original dual snorkel air cleaner. Are there any concerns or issues I should be aware of? Also, is this a straight forward re-installation, or will there be something I will need to do to go back to the original air cleaner?

Kinda depends on the neck of the carbs. Some 2V carbs used smaller necks than other 2Vs and most 4Vs. The used to sell adapters do make them fit, but I haven't checked lately.

On the performance side, the air cleaner has to have at least the same flow (cfm) as the carb at WOT (wide open throttle). I can't really see that being a problem, but I haven't used a stock air cleaner in decades.

Some after market air cleaners will have lower profiles and claim to provide better air flow than stock. Those should be pluses.

Yup Archer and 440RR are correct (as usual).
A 2bbl air cleaner base will not fit that 4bbl carb.
But the good news is, you have an options, you can get an adapter BUT as mentioned, there maybe hood clearance issues.
Buy a stock, orig, dual snorkel 4bbl air cleaner and it should drop right on.
I remember when they were a dime a dozen and you couldn't give them away lol,
Nowadays, they bring good money though, go figure...
But, if you're not a purist, try searching other brands of orig 4bbl dual snorkel air cleaners (ford, GM, etc.)
