Commando V8 Identification

I have had this car for over a year now and started to rebuild the engine. Today I was just looking at the car and noticed a little bit of writing on the trim on the front fender.

It said "Commando V8" this is a picture I took of it: http://imgur.com/aslEsJC

Now I am wondering how to I make sure the engine is actually a Commando V8.

The VIN number on the dash reads "PM23G8R181962".

The fender plate is shown here: http://imgur.com/mlJzOld

I have decoded the VIN number and fender plate

The car came with a 4-bbl carb and intake but everything in the VIN and fender decodes says it should be a 2-bbl. I am new to this and I didn't think the Commando V8's came with a 2-bbl carb. I don't know why the trim and the engine would be different, and I haven't seen any signs that there was an engine swap.

Can anyone help with figuring out what engine is in my car and why the decodes say it should have a 2-bbl?

if its a stock 2 bbl carb it is not high performance engine. the "Commando V8" is just for looks. sounds like you have a modded manifold. changeing a 383 from a 2bbl to 4 bbl is very common. and is done poorly very often. if it came with a 2 bbl it will be a 9.0 cr. a 4 bbl stock will be 10.0 cr and the hole engine could have swaped. which 4 bbl does it have. if its not a carter AVS its not stock. 1968 was the first year for the carter AVS. it is a lot like a AFB. chrysler started use the AFB in 1957
