help with a '67 Newport Convt.

I'm new here, been reading the posts and answers but not posted previously.
2 questions- #1) has anyone replaced the radio (thumb wheel style AM) in a Newport or other C body, and if so has anyone used the hidden systems from Secret Audio, available through Vintage Car Radio?
#1) how about the Redondo RT ( that you have to assemble ) from Retro Sound?
and do i need an amp? will the 4 x45 watts of the redondo or the 200 w of the Secret audio be enough to hear well with the top down? On the highway?

I would suppose that your definition of well would deturmon the answer. If your one of those guys that like knocking the road dust out from under all cars at a stoplight with your tunes your not going to be happy but I would think 200 W would be nice under normal conditions with good speakers. 🙂

help with 67 Newport

Thanks, I appreciate that. Don't want to shake the cars around me at a stop light, but i do like driving the highway at speed and being able to crank the music to where i can't here myself sing along...

Now that was funny!

Yep. I have one mounted in my 67 Fury convertible. Changed out the centre dash speaker and backseat speaker and added a sub. Mounted in the glovebox.

Check with "Custom Auto Sound MFG" To see if that modification could be done with the radio. I would guess that the radio case might be large enough to have the larger drivers installed for you needs?
Then you can build out the system from that.
Keep us posted on the before and after.... :)
