Lighting issue with my 68 plymouth fury sport

I just recently purchased a 68 fury sport with the 383 commando for $1500.00 as a project. After a little money spent with common tune up stuff and a few performance mods I got it fired up today but i noticed when I turned on the lights they wont go on. turn signals work and brake lights work but my headlights and tail lights wont work either will the dash lights. please help me anyone??

Possibly the headlight switch but, it may be simpler than that. I'll see if I can find you a wiring diagram.

Here's a google images link, with more diagrams: http://www.google.com/search?q=1968+...ed=0CEMQ_AUoAQ

thanks for the wiring diagram. what is that metal little relay box that has the headlight wire harness hooked plugged into. it looks like its between the two black horns behind the passenger headlight because its rusty as hell

Maybe the headlight relay. I'll have to look at mine.... when it's light out. That wiring diagram should show it.

Here's wiring diagram, in two parts:

Those cars don't use a headlight relay.

The box is PROBABLY the horn relay, I'm not familiar with the physical layout of that model.

Refer to diagram A find the light switch, you have:

far left terminal BLACK, is feed out from switch to tail lamp circuit, and I would gather feeds power to the panel light switch

Top terminal BLACK TR is main power feeding in. It goes to the other "B" diagram, and connects via a large underdash, in harness splice into the main feed from the ammeter THIS IS the main power coming in for the headlights and is NOT fused. The headlight switch should have a breaker built into the switch. Make sure you have power at this terminal. If not, you may have a failure of the in-harness splice. I've found three or four over the years in Mopars

Second terminal down on right, YELLOW TR, goes to diagram B, through "U" terminal of bulkhead connector, and feeds parking lamps

Third terminal down on right, PINK, is the SECOND POWER FEED INTO the switch, and powers the lower power circuits, the tail, and instruments circuits. It comes from diagram B and the fuse panel

Bottom terminal, LIGHT GREEN, is the output of the headlight circuit to the dimmer switch.

it was the horn relay. after i put my new intake manifold and valve covers and carb on i will check out my light switch

does the light switch have its own relay in the dash?

440roadrunner Aug 28, 2011 10:28 PM

There is no relay in the headlight circuit of a Mopar, unless you are referring to a circuit breaker, which should be built onto/ into the switch

the switch has a short in it i just figured that out but now how do i get it out as the screws are opposite under the dash with the threads facing outward. its a tight area and its hard to go under the dash cause alot of stuff is in the way.

Im having the same problem with my 1968 polara no dash or forward lights. ive got power going to the harnesses but nothing coming out of the switch. I think mine is the switch as well and it sure looks hard to get to. i do have two missing fuses in my box but none of them are labeled lights or anything. I will be replacing the fuses before i tear that switch out of its home. I picked up my polara CHEAP !! Ive had a 65 and a 66 Chrysler Newport I love my c bodys.
