One of 822 Produced.... With Pictures
I have a 63 Custom 880 Convertible, Vin# 5133148271
Can anyone tell me if this is a C body or am I in the wrong forum :) I've some experience with 68 B bodies while restoring cars, but this one is a first. Are there any 63's out there to get floor pan's out of? Thanks all :) koolminx |
dodge 880with a 361? the 5is a blank to me?(1)means its an 880 (3) means 1963 the other (3) mean it was made at jefferson detroit the last six say 1 of 148271 made but yes its a c body the 170, and the 330 should be the same,

1 of 148271 is hardly correct. Production # for the FIRST C body in 1963 was 10,000 that includes 4 doors, 2 doors, 2 door sedan's, Wagons and Convertibles, as of one website there were only 822 1963 Custom 880 Convertible's ever made... |
Welcome to the forum!
|
Thanks a ton! I'm a ford guy when I'm not out saving mothers and babies and kittens...
But I couldn't pass this thing up, especially since it might be the only one left in the entire world...... :) I also believe it HAS to be the 361, isn't that the only motor Dodges got that year? koolminx |
welcome to the forum
no, i think dodge also got the smallblocks, but not sure |
I don't think any of the full size Dodges carrying the Dodge badge that year got anything but the 361. I could be wrong, but I'm sure all the 880's carried the 361 standard, and could have had a special order engine about anytime right?
|
yep you got me there i was totally wrong. 4827 is how many they made up to the point of yours. but that includes hardtops, 4doors, conv, and so on and so on. not a clue how many converts were made. can you post the body number plate? they even had 6 cyl for those cars.

Thanks Fury, will do. About the fox body 8.8" I have friends who've raced them for years without breaking them at 400 HP, and there are guy's that race them and break them after 2 run's then they brake the 9 the same way... It should handle 350 to 400 without any problems, but that FULLY depends on your launch... If you don't race it you can put 800 HP to it... ;) koolminx P.S. WIll get plate info and any #'s tomorrow. |
yeah i understand. i would only be foot braking at the line. thanks for the reply. just need a cheap rearend for a small truck and i can get 8.8,s for 60~80 bucks complete. what gears were available stock? do you know?:)

' Run of the mill will likely be 3.55:1 :) Hope that helps. Now all I need is someone willing to pay $255,000 or more for this nearly one of a kind Custom 880, so I can buy me a home! :D |
Oh hell. I can only find the one tag on it.
On the drivers door pillar, it goes like this. 51 33148271 There are no other identifiers anywhere that I can find. I REEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLYYYYYY need a part's car for floor pans and frame channel's... |
theres not a tag on the fender well under the hood or cowling or radiator support. the plate is about 2" by 4"
|
SO there is supposed to be a plate like the 68 GTX I restored? With all the info on it somewhere under the hood?
I'll look harder and get back to you. |
it should be there
|
I just looked my ass off and found nothing... I e-mailed the guy I got it from and asked him, maybe he took it off and put it with the parts.
Here are the under hood pics I just took looking for it. http://www.thefroginator.co.uk/fm-pi...1111111120.JPG http://www.thefroginator.co.uk/fm-pi...1111111221.JPG http://www.thefroginator.co.uk/fm-pi...1111111119.JPG http://www.thefroginator.co.uk/fm-pi...1111111118.JPG http://www.thefroginator.co.uk/fm-pi...2111111117.JPG http://www.thefroginator.co.uk/fm-pi...0211111116.JPG http://www.thefroginator.co.uk/fm-pi...3333333340.JPG http://www.thefroginator.co.uk/fm-pi...3333333339.JPG http://www.thefroginator.co.uk/fm-pi...201091204a.jpg Still looking but there's nothing under the hood like I saw on my 68 B body. |
washington plates. your no where near spokane are you?
|
Not even. I'm near the Seattle area. Spokane 300 miles away....
Why? |
i just thought if you were neer by i could bring my decode book and go thru the car with you and help find the parts you need. thats all.
|
Dude that would be awesome! But without a friggin Tag it won't do me any good either... :)
Thanks! |
i know tags were there in there in 1960, ya that really sucks not having a tag.. mite be able to make a clone tag maybe but that will take looking at the car and going over it with a fine tooth comb. o btw my book says 880 only came with the 361 2bbl. wow the bladder for the wiper fluid is intact! and electric and not foot pump!! theres $200 in good shape
|
Cool beans! Power top, Power Windows, manual locks I think...
I'm sure it's the 361 2V car. |
