Q on New Yorker 1969 engine, trans, diff.

Is the 69 RB440 a good engine to build up for mild-moderate performance? I have a 69 New Yorker I want to put the
engine, trans and rear end in a 69 Dart.

The 69 440 should have a steel crank and 906 heads if your not using aluminum aftermarkets.

Can fit with the rite hardware.... But the differential is not a good swap. it's to wide.

You can narrow the housing and buy aftermarket axles. 🙂

will the axle housing come out of the differential to allow shortening or do you have to cut it and weld it back together?

Also, I know there are a handful of differentials out there. Are the 3rd members transferable among the 741,742, 489 differentials?

If you asking if you can swap the drop outs yes you can but there are different yokes.
