Restoration Help
Hello all,
Brand new to the forums. Some background for relevance to where I'm at with my ride. I got my first car in 1990 from my Grandfather. I'm second owner of a 1968 Plymouth Sport Fury 383 2bbl with the vinyl fastback top. I've heard it called the Hardtop Convertible. Its sunflower yellow. Has ~53K miles now, not bad for an average of just over 1000 miles a year. Has been sitting in my garage for years and I start it up every so often, but I really want to do a restore on it and do as much of the work as I can myself. I've only put new tires and air shock system to push up the back end. Any suggestions on good reference materials, websites, links, books or whatever to get me on the path to completion would be awesome. I'm mechanically inclined and do almost everything around my place DIY. The issue is I don't know in what order to really get after it. The engine is in good condition but I want it to look really good and do some upgrades but keep it looking mostly original. The exterior has minor dings and dents, the vinyl top is in need of replacement as well as some minor interior work. Thanks in advance! Mike |
Welcome to the forum, it sounds like a great place to start!
440source has books on the big block Mopar and I'm sure there's books and videos on body work and paint. There's plenty of experience here also. |
Welcome. Great Forum here.
You have a "C" Body, not to chase you away but I would join www.forcbodiesonly.com were they probably have a members map to find others in your area. |
I'm doing my first rest I'm in the process of rebuilding my first motor. I bought some original service manuals for my car on Ebay and a book on rebuilding my particular engine. Also you tube has tons of info
