Touch Up Paint
Hi all. I want to touch up some scratches on my 67 Fury III and i have found a paint code that i think is right (see attached) for the 81515 for the yellow colour. But the paint on the car must have faded in the last 46 years so how can i get it matched to the actual current colour? Shops ask me to bring in something to match but there's no small parts i can pull off the car!
Any advise welcomed. I'm in San Francisco, CA. Also still looking for a reliable Mopar mechanic i can trust here. http://paintref.com/graphics/chip/ch...h_ppg_c_01.jpg |

] Unless you can bring the whole car in, you might be able to scrape some paint off an inconspicuous spot for them to work with. Next question is how good are you at doing paint touch-ups? Usually not as easy as it looks, unless you're happy with the 5' rule. Archer |
Hi Archer. Thanks for this; i'm pretty happy with the 5' rule because i'm dealing with a half finished job from the previous owner on the drivers side doors. So really i just want to get the colour to match better than the sprayed white it is right now. I don't really wish to get a full car paint job because i kind of like that its original paint. Yes, it has some dings but i'm not really interested in making a show car. I drive my Fury everyday and live in San Francisco; its going to get nudged and leant on.
I hadn't thought of scraping some off and i've actually just got to thinking i wonder if there's any part in the trunk under the carpet that might be removed... I suppose the fade may not match the doors but i'll look. Thanks again... http://farm5.staticflickr.com/4114/4...11886241_b.jpg |
no way that will ever match.
