Transmission Swap on my 74 Fury

Hi everybody!

I own a Plymouth Fury III 1974 V8 360 with the 3 speed automatic transmission. I want to swap it to a 4 speed (or 5 speed if is possible) automatic transmission.

I think the transmission from a Dodge Ram 5.2L can serve to this purpose.

What do the experts think?

I never do this but I think the transmission swap can help me to get a better performance and better MPG

Stick with an early 90's 518 / 42r? with lockup converter.. Easier swap Main thing is the trans mount need to be modified ! driveshaft needs to be shortened. You can use switches to activate the overdrive & lockup. If the trans you get from the junkyard has 125-150K It needs to be rebuilt, also need to address the 360 balance.. You can use one from a van too! The factory 5 speed is completely electronically computer controlled not easy or you could Check the Mopar Action Feb 2012 if money is no object TCI 6 speed auto
It will definitely help with the mileage, will take a lot of millage to pay for the swap

if your 360 has allot of hp or will in the future you should use the 46 r for the power
my brother and i rebuilt this trany that i'm using now but be careful if you do it your self the overdrive unit has 400 lbs of pressure on the clutch pack, you need a good shop press and get a rebuild manual.
