340 thermaquad ???

does anybody know how many cfms is the original thermaquad that went into a 72 340 wedge challenger?????

the only cfms i know of thermal quads were 700,800,900, they are vaccum controled so it think 700 would be the carb? they may have 750 850? im not positive but i think the 700 was the smallest.

thanks sportfury i found on allpar it says it was a 850 cfm carb but i dont know if i can belive that knowing that compression ratios in 72 went from 10 to 8, you would thing the carb would too...i runnig 600 cfm now but i think ill go to 700...850 will be to much i think..:D

I ran a Thermoquad on my old 318/340 (318 block/340 hi-perf heads, etc) before I swapped in the 440. IIRC, '66 is correct, they were about 800 cfm.

I have a hunch you'll like it.

When/if you go to an aftermarket manifold, remember the size of the secondaries and either get the right manifold or a spacer to go from the spread bore to square. I'm not saying I forgot to do that ... once ...

Hopefully your guy knows what he's doing. But the Thermoquad is an easy carb to work on, and the car will run strong with it.

Check out thermoquads.com...he's got all kinds of good info on just about every TQ made, including CFM info...
