Greetings. I'm going to switch out my 3rd member in my 8 3/4 rear end. It's a 489, currently holding 3.23 gears. The 3rd member I'm going to stick in is also a 489, but has 3.55 gears plus the good old sure grip. Since the gears are already set, any tips on removing the old and putting in the new member? Thanks~

I'm no genius with the rear gears, but this would be a great time to check and/or replace your outer axle bearings and seals. http://www.carcraft.com/howto/1085/index.html Found this article for you, good luck
