440 six pack help

I have a complete 440 engine I bought for a rebuild and I'm debating whether or not to spend the extra money for a 6 pack. Could anyone tell me what the approximate extra expense would be? I thought around $2500 but I'm not 100% sure. And also what would be a good setup to build around a six pack? Ratio? Thank you for any help.

440 6 Pack

The 440 6 pack is awesome. You get the WOW factor when you look under the hood. Yeah it will burn some gas if you get on it but normally runs on the center carb. You have to figure at least $3,000. Not including the air cleaner and housing.

$2500 should cover the parts & yes it has the Wow factor but not the go , the vacuum secondaries are slow to respond & the power using a RPM intake & an 850 Proform will eat the 6 pack alive

Six-pack for show, 4V for go.
Basic KISS principle.

I believe "Mopar Muscle " did a comparison test of intake manifolds and carbs a while back.

I believe a 950 or 1050 Holley with various aftermarket intakes, compared to the Six Pack was only a few lbs ft more torque than the Six Pack. They tried modifying the Six Pack manifold, and that proved not to be an optimal step.

Anyone saying the six pack is slow on the secondary's doesn't know how to tune the setup! (It takes some drilling and tapping fella's)

I raced mine for years, and it was GREAT!

There are still quite a few A-12 clones running in Stock Eliminator that are very strong!

Also, a 850 anything is far too small for great performance from a 440.

Oh Ya.... 6 Packs Do Run with the Big Dogs.... But if your short on how too work on them. You can get it trouble in a minute.... :)

On a side note. When we got into the years of trans breaks and running automatics with them, We did find it challenging too run down low. But once the car made it into Second Gear.... Hold on to your hat, And the look on the face of the guy in the other lane..Well...It was Priceless !!!! :)
