73 Cuda Question

Hey guys I had a quick question for anyone who might know the answer. I have a 1973 Cuda with a mildly built 440. Right now it has a 727 that I am looking to swap out for a 5 or 6 speed aftermarket kit but unfortunately I have no idea what direction to go. Has anyone had any experience with swap outs that might recommend one kit or brand over the other? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks ahead of time

I would look into Keisler. I think you can get everything you need to convert it over right from them

Richmond makes great trannies if you have all the other parts to do the rest of swap.

I recently purchased a 1973 Cuda with a worked 440 and 727 Torqueflite transmission. It is equipped with a 6-speed add-on device from a company called Gear Vendors (www.gearvendors.com). It works very well with the manual valve body installed. I'm producing about 550 hp at the rear wheels and I have a shift kit that hits fairly hard and the GV unit performs flawlessly. The way I have the GV unit configured, I have the standard 1st, 2nd and 3rd gears with an automatic overdrive that activates at about 50MPH. The overdrive drops about 700 rpm so I'm sure I'm getting at least 5mpg at highway speed now, lol. Good luck! Hope this helps!

I used Hurst Driveline's TKO 600- very similar to Kielsler however Hurst had a quicker delivery and support was top notch. Their elite kit has everything from auto to manual. You will need to weld a Zbar if using a manual clutch, unless you want a hydralic system. Good luck.
