My challenger was also a factory California car, and being a survivor would normally be great to look at for that kinda stuff. Unfortunately, mine came with the standard gas cap, not the flip top (even though I run a flip top outside of shows; they look better anyway). I do believe it was just the little metal twist-off kind. Heres an ebay add for what i'm talking about. Hope I can help.

I found that same one on ebay and at the bottom of the page there is a disclaimer that says to measure the slot cutouts in your filler neck, there are 7/16" cutouts for 70's standard emissions then in 71 the filler neck cut outs changed to a 1/4" also I have been told that the 70 California Emission Challengers came with the filler neck with the 1/4" cutouts but the 71 fuel cap wont work.
