Mechanical fuel pump

I am doing a 5.9 litre swap in my 73 cuda and came across some information saying that I would need to add a fuel pump eccentric to the end of my camshaft. I am keeping the serpentine set up for my swap at this time and the 5.9 has a mechanical fuel pump so am I correct in assuming that this does not apply to me?

You are correct..... If the engine has already been equipped to run the mechanical pump, you are good to go. But just because a new block comes with a fuel pump prevision dose not mean that it has been set up to run a mechanical fuel pump. Those need the eccentric.
