New Guy with a 71
 
Hello All!! I figured before I started deep diving into threads I would introduce myself first.

The Car: I have owned a 1971 Challenger R/T since 1988. It served it's duty as a bad ass high school and college ride! Was eventually turned into a street strip car and made a best pass of 11.29 @ 123 mph. By then I was a young buck in the Marines and couldn't afford the car after it broke a few parts. The car has sat idle for MANY years waiting for a full restoration. Well last year that project started!!! The car is now ready for the rotisserie. The matching 383 Magnum is torn down to parade rest and getting a full update. GREEN GO is the color :dance:

Me: 44 years old working in retail living south of Atlanta Ga.

I am hoping everything will come together on the car this summer. But money is running tight!! cash Looks like we will make it as far as the interior and then it will have to slow down if my calculations are right.

I look forward to learning from some of the GURU's here and reading about everyones hot rods an experiences with them.

Oh ya...I am and always will be a MOPAR nut. Current Vehicles:

Found out some interesting things the other day. I decoded the fender tag and go all the info about the car. This car was an early 71. It was built in sept of 1970. When we got the casting number off of the motor we found that it was from the castings that were ONLY done in 1970 for the 383. Other casting numbers for the 383 span MANY years. However, this car has the 1970 383 casting.

Any relevance to this as it pertains to differences in motor from 1970 to 1971?

Dam Dude..... Was there anything left that was good in that car? The Firewall and 1 cross member? You been working man !!!!!!!!!!!! Holy Molly..:yikes:

As for the 383. I "Think" i read at some point in my life that 70 was a change over in casting molds. Dont hold me 100% on that, I dont know for sure.

Not Much. It sat for a long time BEFORE I bought it in 1988. It was very rough then. The time it sat after I bought it took a serious toll. Many of the parts that were replaced were salvageable but it was actually easier/cheaper to replace most of the pieces that it was to keep em.

The pans were GONE. They needed replaced 20 years ago. The quarters too. But the rest of it just went south over the years.
