What is this car.. 1970 SE with a 440?
Hello folks. I am new around these here parts.
I have a question if someone could help answer it.
At issue is a 1970 Challenger SE that I am in the process of buying. I know it is an SE, but haven't seen the car in person. Just pics so far. My car guys that found it have told me it is a numbers matching 440 car with 66K original miles. A one owner type deal. The owner painted it white to match the Vanishing Point car right after the movie came out...
Anyway, all of the research I have done via Barnes&Noble books and online resources says that in order to get the 440 or hemi engine in the Challenger in 1970 you had to have the R/T package as well.
Was it possible to buy a 440 car with just the SE package? Or did it have to be an R/T-SE? It does have the correct gauges for an RT, but no emblems..
I havent seen the car in person yet, just pictures the seller has offered the brokers. And I know the personally inspecting the car is a must-do thing, and once that happens I will know for sure..
Just wondering if the 440's were available on the SE if someone just wanted an SE, or if it is an RT-SE in disguise.
Any help much appreciated
