if its strictly sat night specl go to a 8 3/4 rear or a 8 1/4 rear. do NOT EVER EVER EVER use a 7 1/4 rear for anything, EVER. you might try a 4.56 ratio. this is THE best place for / 6 info. http://www.slantsix.org/

put a 3.23 or 3.55 rear end You should be able to find a 8 1/4 rear for your Aspen/Volare.
A "B" body 8 3/4 is a close fit. just have to push the springs apart 1/4"-1/2" use the 8 3/4 shock plates & new U bolts. - This eliminates the rubber spring mounting. Had an 8 3/4 in a Volare RR
