98 Ram van v6 not dropping into 1st gear!help!

My 98 ram 1500 van with v6 AT is not dropping into 1st gear at a stoplight, stop, but goes into first fine from park to drive, and reverse to drive. Anyone have any ideas. Transmission Sensors?

i read something about the sensors or governor solenoids a while back drop the pan and filter pull them and clean them was a recommended start, maybe the guys can shed a better light than I can
