67Polara 06-06-2010 12:55 AM

cool, wasnt to sure, i've bin told alot of different things about it. thanks man

a resonater just mellows the main muffler notes.

The resonators are there to help keep interior noise levels of the exhaust down.

While they have no impact on the exhaust minus adding some restriction, removing one will depend on your states laws. In some state you need to have everything that the factory put on in order to pass. Although I would believe that most inspection stations would be lax about this law unless they are state inspection stations.

would they be able to tell just from looking @ the pipe or the sound ?

Buffalojoe426 06-06-2010 01:36 PM

I would believe most actually look at the pipes to make sure every thing is there, but if its not actually part of the emissions who knows?

You would be able to see it missing (unless you redo the entire exhaust) and you would hear it more inside. Like I said before though, just take a look into your state inspection laws. Another thing you could do is ask the shop that you have inspect your vehicle and see what they say. The chances that you will be pulled over because you took off the resonator is highly unlikely.

from standing next to the truck, u cant see the resinator, it's tucked in between the rear axle, bed and tire.
but since it's so far back would it have a smaller impact on the cab niose ?

78D200 06-07-2010 02:21 AM

Probably not as you may have one further up in the system. What year and what truck?

johnthegoalie 06-07-2010 02:24 AM

removing it will make the exhaust a little louder and throatier. check it there is a hangar for attached to it, either way an exhaust shop can cut it out and weld in a straight pipe for around 50

67Polara 06-07-2010 03:24 AM

its an 06 ram 1500 mega cab with a 5.7 Hemi, but it sits on the same fram as the 2500 and 3500.

me and a buddy thought we'd just cut the pipe a couple inches before the muffler starts and clamp a straight pipe with a 45 and run it out right before the back tire.

figure that would be alot cheaper and easyer with my budget.
