It's been awhile since I've posted

I'm doing research for a possible efi magnum swap w/ megasquirt project this summer.

My questions are for the 96 to 03 model trucks.

• Do these year of truck have nylon or steel fuel lines? From everything I've seen so far they look flexible.
• If nylon what size, I've heard there are two sizes 5/16 and 3/8. With 5/16 being more common. Is that true?
• Where do you source the quick-connect fittings used on the fuel rail and tank sending unit?

I tried searching for them by application (96-03 Dodge RAM 1500 or 2500 5.2 or 5.9) but, I'm not really finding anything solid that says it works for or is for those applications. In fact, I'm finding it kinda of difficult to locate pictures of the fuel rail itself but, from what I've seen so far it doesn't look like it uses a hose barb or standard fuel fittings. Some look like they have a male connection, some look female...

But, surely you must be able to buy something? how would you repair them if the line was damaged?

I read a page here that said some of the quick connect fittings Chrysler where similar to gm ones.

Below is the closest thing I could find but I'm not sure if it works but it's listed for Chrylser 1988-2003

There even seems to be different fuel systems setups (return vs returnless)

• return system with a regulator on the rail (this system seems to be on the early trucks)
• returnless system with the regulator on the tank. (Does the computer also pwm the fuel pump?)

So, away I'm kind at a loss. Think I ran into another one those subjects that nobody talks about so it's hard to find information on it.

I wonder if these would work? They are 5/16 and there are also 3/8 variants available.
To be honest I'm probably getting ahead of myself with small details like this without actually having a magnum engine to look at but, it would be nice to have it figured now so I don't have to think about it later.

There we go. Size is 3/8
I found the size for the pump connection... 3/8 male quick connection (pic attached)

So.. perhaps something like this if the fuel rail is male?

Also, found a another pic of the stock male fitting. Rolled bead with crimped hose on the other end. I wonder if I could just have a hose shop make that?

But, does it transition to steel lines at the frame?
