Oil pan swap

My buddy has a Durango and we are going to change the oil pan this weekend. What I am wondering if there is any easy way to do this ? Has anyone done the swap ? I am hoping the motor doesn't have to come out to do this but at first glance it looks ugly. Tips/Tricks ? Thanks in advance.

The only pain is going to be getting out past the bottom of the tranny. You shouldn't have to pull the motor to do it, but you may need to unbolt the tranny mount and lift it a little.

Don't quote me, but i believe you have to unbolt the motor mounts, and support the motor to get enough clearance.

Crappy thing is everyone I have done no matter what it was the motor had to be raised because of the oil pick up tube, I have dropped the pan and removed the tube and got it out but was a real pain putting it back together, torque wrench did not fit in there well. Good luck man, Jake

Hey Polaradude, I've done them too. (Tom, mechanic at Susquehanna CDJR.) The other guys are right. You have to unbolt the motor mounts to lift the engine just a bit. It isn't impossible, by any means, but takes a little more time. Half the battle is knowing you have to do it and making sure you have planned a few hours. Good luck.
