Price to pay for 1st Gen Dodge Dakota?

I'm new to buying cars but what is a good price to pay for a 1st Gen Dodge Dakota. Mainly a 1993 in decent shape (paints faded) with the 3.9l guy wants $4000.
A different one is a 1993 shortbed with the V6 and the guy wants $4200 for it.
The other one I am looking at is a 95 with the 2.5L and the guy wants $3500 for it.

Is it just me or do all these prices sound very optimistic. There was another 95 that I already called, the guy posted $5000 and it had the V6 and the guy was trying to sell it for that much based on the "potential it the truck has to become a show truck".

Whats a real good price to pay?

I could tell you if you gave me more information than "a 93 dakota with faded paint and a v6". pic would help out a lot too

As far as I am concerned they are way over priced !!! How many miles ? It also depends on where you live. The V6 is very under powered !!

They didn't list the mileage, the one guy who was listing his price "based on potential to be a show truck" had about 120,000 miles. I live in South Florida about an hour away from Tampa. It seems like cars are expensive here because everyone thinks they have a show car.

those are pretty sky high prices. i pay around 2k for a decent one with average mileage around my neck of the woods.

I traded a worn out Valiant worth about $600 for my 94 supercab Dak. It looks rougher than it is. 3.9 V6 runs great.

The 93 is a 2nd gen Dakota. Those prices are way too high, even for one fully loaded. Need more info too, 4x2 or 4x4? reg or ext cab? power everything or manual? auto or stick? rust, rot or bubbles?

I really hate to be rude, but I have to correct you on your ignorance and lack of knowledge of the Dakota generation periods. The 1993 Dodge Dakota is actually a FIRST generation Dakota. It was also the first year that Dodge made the 5.2 L v8 Magnum the standard engine for the 4x4 and it was also the first model that Dodge introduced the rack and pinon steering standard. The first generation Dakota's are from 1986-1996, for the 87-97 model years. The SECOND generation Dakota's started production in mid 96 for the 1997 — 2004 model years with Dodge ceasing production of the Dakota's in mid 2004. It was the 1993 model, which I own, that made all introductions on that model year the new standards for all models produced until 2004, with the exception of dodge dropping (foolishly) the cast iron block and heads 5.2L 318 Magnum for the notoriously bad all aluminum 4.7L v8, and wrongfully giving it the magnum name!
