Yes Bob we did run the numbers for the 4.30 gears... Still too much plus we could not find a 4.30 pro gear that would fit the class 4 spool... They do make a 4.10 that does... So the 4.10 is the way we are going... We are also looking at different first gear in the tranny... That is where the "secret" stuff is......

Actually Bob we do have a lot of different ratios even inside the 727.... Pro Trans has developed a new 727 that has all light weight insides with many ratios for the gears... But, they are EXTREMELY expensive... I can't afford the $8,000 price tag for the full trany so I 'm lookin at just the first gear set... Ratio to be determined... We do have it in mind though.... Can't tell it all!!!

Bob, you are right on the ATI Challenger!!! But the ATI Copo is in Super Stock.... That 327 has a little helper on top of it to make its own "air"..... Did you happen to see the video of it on the dyno?? 1200 hp.... From 327"!!!!!! Wow is all I can say..... Wish we had one......

Seems like this project is taking forever!!!!! Hurry up and wait.... I've been waiting for the chassis guy to make the brackets for the wheelie bars for three weeks now... they never get in a hurry..... Always dragging around and taking way longer than it should... But this is always the way it is..... But I'm ready to bark the tires again in the Challenger... Two race cars and neither running..... Sad state of affairs in Florida...

oh i know they are not hard to make.... Just have to do it.... He does excellent work just takes too long!!!!
Barracuda engine hasn't been touched since I left it at the engine guy's..
I told him to get thru the "Winter Series" high dollar bracket races and then worry about my engine... He runs these every year and normally wins enough money to race locally most of next year.. They will be thru mid December so he will start on it then. may get it torn down before then so can get parts ordered....

Well I finally got some track time with the 426... We only got two passes but did learn a lot... We were at CC/SA weight, 3550.. We are geared 4.10 in the rear and 2.49 stock first gear in the tranny... We ran a 9.864 at 139 mph... The leave was set up very soft and did a short shift for the first pass... Felt good, strong and pulled all the way down.... Had the stock tune up from Arrow... Wanted to get a base line before I got serious... Made a second pass and heard a squeaking noise from the tranny so I quit... Called my tranny guy and he said he would meet me at home when I got there.. Second pass was a 9.984 at 138mph.... Good think I quit when I did by the time I got home something in the tranny has locked up... Had to unload with the jack and now have pulled the tranny... Tranny guy has come by and picked it up... He is going to pull it apart in the morning so hopefully we will know something then... More when I know it.....

Hey guys, started to report last night on the Tranny but wanted to discuss with my guy again so I would get it right..
What happened was the sprag support bushing was in the process of "tightening up" on the output shaft... If I had continued I would probably have a lot more damage... Right now the shaft is ok and all I need is a bearing kit from A&A. A local Mopar guru told us that turning a 727 over 7,000 RPM would lead to this happening.... The "fix" is a bearing kit...
The bushing when hot would be a little too tight but when it cooled it restricted and locked up the output shaft.... It was loose enough that a press moved with little effort so I think I quit at exactly the right time...
Anyway that is all I know at this time... More as I know it..

My Tranny guy talked to A&A today and they suggested that we "cut" another groove to get more lubrication to the bearing.. That way, we can turn what ever RPM we need and the 727 will get enough lube to the bearing... Problem solved.... Will be back together late tomorrow or at least Wednesday... Will be ready for the Mopar Southern Nationals at South Georgia Motorsports Park this weekend!!!!! WHOOO HOOOOO!!!!!!!
