when working as an accountant for a dodge dealership, someone traded a 93 viper in on a 2005 viper. the traded in viper had been driven hard, all of the tires were shot, the three spoke wheels were fairly chewed up along the edges. it was red, and as soon as it came in, i started checking it out...it had around 60,000 miles on it, and when i talked to the used car manager, he told me that if i traded in the stratus, they could get me the viper for around 20-22 grand. i pined over it for days...telling them not to sell it until i gave it a good thought. my payments would have been around the same for the viper as they are for the stratus, but the big hit was the insurance. i was 24 or 25 at the time, and the insurance would have been around 500 dollars a month...and yes, i do have a spotless driving record. i decided that driving a viper would be worth the fact that i wouldnt be able to afford anything else, but come on..its a viper!! a viper!!

the day that i came home to tell my mom and dad (with whom i was living since my dad had gotten sick) i pulled the stratus into the driveway, and the exhaust scraped...and thats when it dawned on me that the viper might not clear the lip of the driveway. i pulled the stratus over the lip, and measured the ground clearance at the lowest point, and then i figured out the best case to pull into the driveway. the next day i measured the clearances of the viper, and there was no way that it would clear the lip into the driveway. so, my options would be to either find a way to pay someone to level the end of the driveway, or i would have to keep the viper elsewhere, and then drive my truck to get the viper each day that i wanted to use it. the next problem was that in 1993 the viper had no AC, no windows, no roof, no CD player, no external door handles, no external door locks...it would have been terribly impractical as a daily driver, and thats what it would have been...so as much as it pained me, i went into work and told them to sell it...it was gone the next day..:(

to bad you missed out on the viper- obviously to have a car like that you need a place to keep it, heavy insurance & heavy payments. never drove one, or even had a ride in one yet, but i've seen them in action...what an awesome car!

knowing me i would have bought it and thought about the problems later. But maybe my new girlfriend i would have met from driving the viper could have taken care of those problems.....

I am really wanting a Viper, and, if fate hands me a decent card later, I might get one.

What does your post, CarsonKatie, have to do with a Viper?

I am wanting to install a Viper engine in a 71/72 Roadrunner. Think it will work?

Liu Kang 02-27-2008 05:22 AM

it'll work, no doubt, I wanted to put one in a challenger but its been done many times over, well, they put then in cuda's and with twin turbos no doubt. I got one of these engines/tranny but I don't think I'm going to go though with it so if anyone looking for a low mileage viper engine/tranny with ecu, hit me up, Dan liukang187@yahoo.com
