Clutch replacement/repair cost

I've been quoted 550 for parts and 805 for labor to replace the clutch in my 64 v8 barracuda. Apparently the original 9" isn't available but that shouldn't be an issue given they availability of 9.25 and 10"
Any thoughts....my first barracuda and I'm needing some help to know what makes sense for a replacement. I found OEM plus throw out bearing for about 225 online. Why 550 bucks?

Thanks in advance for the help guys

If you go to a 10" clutch you would need a flywheel, clutch disk, pressure plate through out bearing and maybe a new belhousing ??? I would check with Summit Racing OR Ebay $800 for labor ??/ or is that the total ?

They quoted 550 for parts and 800 for labor on the original quote. Now asking me to call them because they cannot get the 9 inch which was supposed to be original equipment in the 273 V8.

They have 8 hours at 95 per hour. Pull the transmission, etc is what they said had to be done. Feel like I'm getting boned

Here's something 9 1/4 clutch listed for a 6 cyl but may be what you need ???
http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/sk...%26+Drivetrain

and someone who does clutches and has the air tools could probably do it in 2.5 hours + 1/2 to jack it up and support on jack stands.. 4 bolts and the drive shaft comes out, 2-3 bolts and the shifter comes out 4 bolts on the cross member 2 bolt on the trans mount. 4 bolts and the trans comes out !! 2 bolts for starter 5 bolts for the bell housing. 6 for the pressure plat and another 6 for the flywheel... an an air ratchet /impact makes quick work of it... Send the flywheel to machine shop and have it re surfaced re assemble with locktite on bolts

The biggest scam is the labor rate manual

Thank you everyone for the help and education. I'm going to challenge the labor hours..is there a "book" that suggests how long something should take like there is for modern cars.
