What would make a good first car?

I'm doing a little first car shopping and don't know which car would suit my needs. I'm looking for something cheap on insurance, fun to drive, and easy on gas. Preferably nothing smaller than a 3.0 engine.

I'm currently looking at a 2002 Chevy Impala thats clean, 158,500 miles, and a 3.8 under the hood. It's in VERY good comdition.
Do you guys think it would be a good car?

I like chevy impala's there nice but depending on how well they took care of the engine with 158xxx. I have found that you can get great cars at great deals at public auctions if you know what its worth and what you will pay. Auctionpipeline has been my choice you can create an account thats open to public auctions i like
cheers :)

Buy what you can afford to pay cash for. That's going to be the cheapest insurance.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I'll be taking some money out of my bank account for this (it's been in a CD) so I'll be able to pay cash on anything under 5000.

I'll have to check out auctionpipeline.

Thanks again guys!
