1974 Dart | Magnum 360 Swap Advice
I lack experience with vintage Mopars and could use some help from you guys on finalizing a list of needed parts for this project.
Thus far, I removed the Slant 6 and cataloged the parts. The S6 has been retired.
Transmission: Old vs Newer vs Adapted

Transmission: Old vs Newer vs Adapted
- Old: The 904 or 727 small block pattern will bolt up to the newer 360. Column or Floor shift; rod or cable, lots of questions. Why would I go with an old 3 speed? I can't think of a single reason.
- Newer: 46RE with an aftermarket controller from http://www.e-transcontrol.com/tcm932/; seems like a better option...controller is 750.00. Need to decide on shifter. Kickdown is cable operated; easier than the rod style.
- Steering Link; does the S6 center link clear the v8 oil pan?
- Radiator / radiator mount: I know the V8 radiator is larger; are there other mounting considerations such as necessary hardware or brackets?
- K member: original shows impact damage, wouldn't mind replacing. Years to look for?
- Engine mounts? Adapt current K member with aftermarket mounts; or, better to swap K members; or buy aftermarket?
- Oil filter clearance:\ will the 90 degree adapter be needed?
- Firewall clearance: Is this a drop in fit; or will firewall mods be necessary?
- Exhaust manifolds / headers: What will clear
- Torsion bar upgrade; is this recommended?
