I have a 79 longbed, 360. I have looked and looked for something to fit. My tank split and I wanted to drive my truck. Summit Racing to the rescue. I put an RCI fuel cell in it. There are numerous models and sizes. I have been cruising junk yards for a couple years with no success. I am starting to find some truck tanks of similar sizing though, so I might try and do a refit. The problem with that is most modern tanks have all kinds of nozzels and fitments which need plugging or otherwise plumbing. With the RCI, as it has a sending unit, at least I can put an aftermarket gauge on it and have some idea of my fuel level. There are some tanks with replace your spare and go through the bed, this is one way of doing it too.
I can weld, so if I can get some sheet metal bent, I might try and tig up one myself, but I will still have a fuel gauge issue to resolve. I wish I kept my cracked tank for mock up. Good luck.
