Dodge D100 newbie

2 Attachment(s)
Hi everyone,

3 years ago I bought a Dodge D100 1978 from a friend which I have a couple of questions about:

First I need help identifying the wheels on the truck. I've attached a couple of photos. I'm pretty sure they are not the stock wheels and they are Chrysler wheels but I can't figure out exactly what they are. Help please...

Also, the truck runs great, but occasionally, with no apparent reason, it shuts down suddenly and completely - lights and everything. I am suspecting the ignition switch, but really have no basis for that.

Thank you for your help...

Those were an optional wheel you could get on the truck......:)

However I dont remember the name of the wheel package...... Not sure if it was off the SLT, SE, Macho, Custom, .... I Just dont remember....

Welcome to the site !!!!!!!!!!

Thank you for the warm welcome...

When I went to get the new tires installed the sales person was very curious as to where I got the wheels...he mentioned something about them being very rare. I've searched all over the internet and haven't been able to find any information about them.

Engine swap on a Dodge D100 1978

Hey I'm new to the group just join today and I have a couple questions I'm trying to swap out an engine from a 1996 Chevy 1500 it's the V8 Vortec with tranny and all along with the rear end I have a couple questions as to what I'm going to face putting all that in the 1978 Dodge D100. I know I got to change the intake manifold to so it will fit a carbureted setup instead of the TBI that I believe it has on it. But my other concern was with the rear end swap from the axle to the new rear end I know I have to shorten it but I'm curious does anyone have any ideas

Putting a bowtie engine in a MOPAR. Proof that our education system has gone to hell in a handbasket. What is the point to doing this?

What's the point, are you just throwing all your junk in one pile?

Check the length from backing plate to backing plate... Maybe all you need to do is move the spring perches and get some offset wheels...
Whats the combo in the 1500? 5.7 / 700r4 / 2.73 rear axle ratio ?
Good luck with the project, you got lots of work to do and fabrication... :)

The best thing to do is to install that vortec, tranny and axle in the bed of your D-100 with tailgate down. Put truck in reverse, accelerate to 25-30 mph, slam on brakes, put truck in drive and continue on.
