First time poster and MOPAR owner. Any advice, tips, info, resources??

I just bought a 74 satellite RR clone. I know I would like to upgrade to something more powerful than the 318 sometime soon, but don't know what all should be considered. Here's the car, let me know if you have any info that may be useful

Nice car, but to answer your question, we'd have to know what you wanted to do with the car and your budget.

The quickest fix, other than "working" the 318 in stages would a a 360 crate motor.

BTW - the car has dual exhausts, so something was already done to it.

Welcome to the forum..... Be sure to check out the Mopar of the Month contest.... Archer is right.... We need to know more of your plans for the car and your budget.... Because my standard answer is get a Hemi, 727 and a Dana... Put them all together and go out and put some Chebbies and Furds to shame!!!! But that may not fit your plans.....

Well, I'd like to make it go fast. Haha simple as that. As for budget, I have not established one yet. I'm willing to purchase as I go. I work for MOPAR in a management position, so can get OE parts at a bit of a discount and also have a decent salary for a single guy with no kids (get it done right while I can). I work with 2 guys who are selling motors, one is a rebuilt 440 from an RV, a 1972 I believe that he'd sell somewhere around a grand. Another guy mentioned a stroker he is in process of building but doesn't have time, and is saying a "few grand" depending on what the damage comes to when its done.

I have minimal details on either at this point. What I would like to know are what engines would require minimal work/headaches to swap and get good power? I have heard trans and rear axle will probably have to change as well with more power.

Also, MReeves: Just voted!

I would go 408 stroked 360. Same package bolts in with 400-650 hp. Upgrade the rest of drive train accordingly.

What would that require? 727 trans i assume, driveshaft, what else? Motor mounts?

I was browsing CL and found this: http://omaha.craigslist.org/pts/4133566170.html

It was in a 72 challenger, what else would I need to drop this in?

Going with a big block [383, 400, 440, 426 wedge] will require a Schumacher engine mount conversion kit, H.P. manifolds or custom made headers [Schumacher], bigger radiator, 727 trans, different drive shaft 8 3/4 rear. A built small block 340, 360 only requires upgraded trans, 8 3/4 rear, drive shaft.

Actually Lou,
I don't think he needs the Schumacher parts,
Just the BB motor mount pads and it'll drop right in that K member
Iirc (?)

You may already have have a 727 so a small block 318 stroker would be doable
easy 400 HP
