newb checkin in...74 coronet
Was searching the forums recently to find a place to get some info into this car I've had for a while. I'm not a gearhead by any means when it comes to these old cars.
I purchased my 1974 Coronet a little over a year ago to use for my media business (photography/video). Things were good for a while but then one day, my girlfriend was leaving in it to go to the store and she couldn't get out of the parking lot. Transmission just gave out, with no warning.
Got that fixed only to find out that there is a mild knock coming from the engine now. Other than that, the car is in great shape, the interior is extremely clean (no other pics of it). Odometer reads 038000, and with the condition the car is in, I would have to imagine it's close to being right. But then again, I'm no expert.

Well, to be honest, this was something I tossed around in my head one night without knowing how much the parts alone would run. I talked with a friend of mine who has his own shop and running through some general figures for just the labor, I don't think it's going to be worth it. Oh well, it was a fun idea.

What engine is in it? If it's a big block, good luck affording parts like big block bell housing for a manual swap. If it's a small block well, tons of cheap parts available.
Regardless, I say if the auto trans in there already is recently fixed and running well... I'd enjoy what you have... Maybe look around for a second car that already has the factory setup you fancy. Then you have 2 cars... the auto you can drive and not think about shifting, when you want to giggle at your models shifting gears well you have a car for them too!! LOL!!
